Framing and Materials
Moira Cue uses high-density, fully archival, tempered hardboard panels. The panels create an ultra-resistant surface that shows pure brushwork without absorbing, diffusing, or limiting the physical intensity of the artist’s mark. The finished panels are sent to a woodworking shop in Pasadena, California, where they are pressed to remove any warp, trimmed to remove any irregularities or damaged edges, and custom-framed in solid hardwood, to create an unadorned, floating picture.
Process
The works are created in an outdoor studio, near the Los Angeles National Forest, under natural daylight.
